Objectives: These games build team spirit and teach aquatic agility and co-operation.
Players: 3 to 8. Divide larger groups
Required: Comfortable clothes. The more clothes you wear, the more difficult these games get.
Preparation
Move into chest deep water.
Keep clear of the pool-side so when you fall back in, you don't hit the edge.
Game 1: Single Column
This is a good start.
A strong player takes a second player on his shoulders.
Then a third light weight player climbs up to the top.
This requires fairly good balance.
In the end they all fall back into the water.
Game 2: Rings of People
Three or more players form a ring shaped base.
Then the same number of players climb onto their shoulders and form the second ring.
Game 3: Tower of Five
Two players stand facing each other.
Two more players climb on their shoulders and hold on to each other to give the whole project some stability.
Once they are in place the last player climbs as high as possible and smiles for the photographer.
Then he jumps back into the pool, followed by the others.
Reader Comment
We often play this game in our swimming club.
This is easy just in swim wear, but quite a challenge when we are all fully clothed.
So we start the game just in shorts and tee-shirts.
Then we add more clothes like jeans and hoodies.
This is a lot more fun.
Finally we put on some rainwear which keeps a lot of water in pockets and sleeves.
This is really difficult to balance.
In the end we all collapse in a big heap of laughter.
Great stuff.
